Wednesday

Petunia had Robotics Club after school yesterday (looks like it will be 3x a week for a while now) so I picked her up afterward and we swung by the library where I had 2 books waiting. Need to get reading.

Had chili dogs and tater tots for dinner last night. Delicious. I used these "new to me" Pepperidge Farms buns that were split on the top (not on the side like traditional hot dog buns) and they were perfect. Thick enough to hold a hot dog and chili, but thin enough to not feel like you're eating a lot of bread. They were a little more expensive than traditional buns, but worth it for not breaking and exploding all over you while eating. LOL They remind me a lot of buns used for lobster rolls up in New England. I think they'd be great for tuna or egg salad sandwiches too.

It's funny. I know I love chili dogs, but we rarely have any leftovers for it. I realized last night how satisfying it was and how much it has become a comfort food to me. Not from childhood, never had anything like that until I was an adult, but it has good memories of when the kids were younger.

Going to plan on making a Shepard's Pie (actually a Cottage Pie since we can't get ground lamb lol) this weekend. I cannot even remember the last time I made one. Maybe when the boys were a lot smaller? I don't recall fixing one for Petunia. Some more comfort food, this time definitely from my childhood since my dad liked to make it for dinner. Petunia got all excited when I told her, she loves mashed potatoes, almost as much as she likes mac & cheese. LOL What a little carb addict she is.
