Day 10: In Which We Have a Group Hug with Uncertainty

Day 10: In Which We Have a Group Hug with Uncertainty

"Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainty”
— Erich Fromm

  • Certainty is perfect knowledge that has total security from error, or the mental state of being without doubt.
  • Uncertainty is the situation which involves imperfect and / or unknown information.

Today, I’m willing to let go of certainties, like… failure? Does that make sense? Every time I try something new, there is always that thought that it is certain I will fail, whether true or not.

Today, I welcome the uncertainty of… accomplishment. I don't know if I can do everything, but I can try.

When I let go of certainty, I feel… wobbly? LOL Honestly, this is a hard prompt for me. I don't know how to answer this.

I believe that uncertainty about (name your biggest, nagging uncertainty) could teach me… confidence? I think my biggest uncertainty is about acceptance. I am certain that I will not be accepted by everyone (well, that's a fact) but I need to accept that and embrace it. I have, to a certain degree, accepted that.

I understand this prompt but am unsure on how to apply it to my life and thoughts.
