Tuesday

Yesterday was such a bad day. After news of David Bowie passing, the local news was inundated with an all day report of the missing 21 mo. old Lonzie Barton (went missing end of July). His mother and her boyfriend were going to appear in court (trial scheduled to start yesterday) but it was canceled and the boyfriend finally, after 6 months, took the authorities to where the little boy's body was. My heart just broke, I always had a bit of hope that they passed him on to someone and he was still alive somewhere. To find out he was dead the whole time and they knew it, was just too much. Such sadness.

During dinner last night, my mom called. Auntie Sue's surgery is scheduled for the 19th. The doctor has told her that they don't expect her to survive the surgery. I think my mom is exaggerating because that is what she does. She asked me to email Auntie Sue so I did this morning.

Supposedly got down to freezing last night. I wrapped the base of the hibiscus in an old sheet to try and protect it. It's too leggy to drape anything over it and I don't have any way to hang something over it without touching. As long as the roots are protected, that is the most important thing. I have to prune the silly thing anyway, it's way too leggy and I would like it to bush out a bit more.  Crap, just googled it and everyone says, except for emergencies, pruning should only be done in late summer or early autumn. Guess I'll have to wait unless frost or a freeze damages it.
