Tuesday

Got a call from my step-mother, BL, earlier this morning. My dad (79 yo) had a stroke and is in hospital. This past weekend, he got very dizzy and threw up non-stop for almost 12 hours and was admitted through the ER. The docs say that he most likely had a stroke in the area of the brain that effects balance, etc., hence the dizziness and vomiting. They've applied to a rehab center in Orlando that takes patients like him, if he's accepted, he'll be there for 7 to 10 days. BL says while he does have weakness on the left side, the stroke did not seem to effect any other areas. They had him up and walking this morning. I was slightly upset by the news at first, and now I'm just bothered - not really upset. At least I won't get ugly emails (insulin killz!) from him while he's out of sorts, right?

Petunia and I decided over the weekend that we will be putting together a Steampunk outfit for her to wear for Halloween, etc. We looked at ready made costumes at Wal-mart, Kmart, Target, etc, and realized that for about the same amount of money and a little elbow grease, we could put something together that would be a lot nicer and last longer. Going to have Sharky take us to a thrift store or two this weekend. Right now, for the time being, I'm looking at a lot of online sites (eBay, Pinterest, Etsy, etc.) and window shopping for ideas.
