Ugh. Some people are just nasty.
After I walked Petunia to school yesterday, it rained. It rained all day long, not heavy, just a light sprinkle. (Thank goodness, it rained heavier in the city and they had to close two bridges because of it.) When I went to pick her up it had finally stopped and I noticed that the house that had the decapitated mousie on the sidewalk had been mowed. Stupid me assumed that whomever had mowed the lawn (and the sidewalks, since the octagon pavers have grass growing between them) had disposed of the mouse corpse. WRONG. They just left it there. The owner/renter of that house is an obnoxious proselytizer without much care for "this world", so why should they care about little kids crying over a dead critter?
So, Petunia and I are now taking a slightly different route (avoiding the sidewalk part) until it's gone. Oh, and it was funny - she saw one of those giant toadstool mushrooms in the street, all soggy and torn up by a mower, and gave a tiny scream thinking it was another corpse. I had to hug her and reassure her that it wasn't. (Hey, those things do look pretty gross when not growing in the grass all pretty-like. LOL)
The boys told me they have not seen the boxer this week, thank goodness. They did see a very large, obviously stray chihuahua roaming around. They tried to approach it but it was so skittish it almost ran into the path of a passing car. Luckily it wasn't hit. Poor baby.
