So, I was reading a blog this morning...

... and had a pleasant surprise. Read these two bits from Chocolate and Zucchini:

"...but I opted to use rum, which I like to use in my baking (canelés, crêpes and yogurt cake without rum are like a kiss without a mustache*) and find a perfect match to vanilla."

"* "Like a kiss without a mustache" is a literal translation of comme un baiser sans moustache, a French idiom that means that one thing is pointless without the other."

I had to blink a few times when I read that. My beloved grandfather used to use that phrase all the time and I haven't heard it in many years.

I have a major thing for mustaches. My grandpa always had one and when I was about 6 or 7, I insisted my father grow one as well, which he wore for many years. Of course, Sharky had one when we met and he shaved it off once - never again. LOL
