The Harvest Moon is tonight
It is usually a large orange colored moon low on the horizon, but depends upon the weather, of course. Seeing it always makes me happy, the real sign that Autumn is on its way, even here in hot, humid Florida.
Thanks to all the rain we've been having, there are mushrooms sprouting everywhere. Most are the standard white/gray variety, but I found a yellow and orange one by the school yesterday. Not the best picture, used my camera phone to take it.
Ate one of Thomas' Everything bagels for breakfast. Not too bad, but not my fave. I prefer onion bagels. Takes a long time to toast a proper bagel, setting on almost halfway between medium and dark on the toaster oven. I don't like soft or untoasted bagels. LOL Definitely have to have cream cheese, although butter is better than nothing - cream cheese with chives is the best of all, even with onion bagels (LOL). Panera's asiago cheese bagels are absolutely to-die-for and they toast them perfectly there, crusty & crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Too bad they are so expensive.
Today is the kids' last day of school before a 3 day weekend (IHO Labor Day). When I go to the store this weekend, I'm going to try and see if we can get some ribs for the boys to grill in the back yard on Monday. I think a big, cold homemade potato salad would go great with that. Mmm...
Need to buy some more bird seed. The feeders are empty and I'm getting dirty looks from the doves sitting on the ledge of the porch. They may be big and dumb, but they know where the food comes from so they stare hard at the door. LOL
A couple of houses down, a neighbor has what looks like to me, some kind of purple (black?) philodendron (pothos?) growing in their front yard. While walking home this morning, I saw a piece broken off and laying in the grass so I picked it up and brought it home. It really resembles philodendron/pothos, even to the baby roots attempting to sprout from the stem. I broke it up into a couple of pieces and put it in water, hoping it will send out some roots. If it does, its going into one of my pots on the porch. I like free plants. Makes me feel better if they die, no money wasted. LOL I hate having a brown thumb...
