Friday
AJ came by right on time yesterday. Gabby was so excited, she was doing the full-body-tail-wag. Rupert came out of the crate first, followed reluctantly by Rosie. Both were not thrilled with a dog, but were brave. Rosie ended up behind the front door after sniffing the living room a bit. Rupert walked to the bathroom and back, and then planted himself in the window to watch the birds. Eventually, he ended up underneath the credenza in front of the fireplace. After AJ left, I picked up Rosie from behind the front door and she ended up in Malcolm's old hidey hole under Grandma Rita's craft table next to the couch. Rupert kept sneaking out and going back and Rosie would stand up and peek at me over the arm of the couch.
At one point, I came over to sit at the computer and check my email and I felt a tap on my leg. I looked down and there was Rosie, reaching up asking me to hold her. I picked her up and started to cry. When I told Mom about it, she said that maybe Malcolm told her to do that, to let me know he was still here. I carried her over to the couch where she laid down on my shoulder and the arm of the couch, purred and made biscuits.
Of course, by the time I got Petunia, they were firmly ensconced in their holes. Rita stuck her arm down the side of the couch and got Rosie to purr. She then laid in front of the credenza to read and Rupert was loving all over her, even allowed her to pick him up and cuddle him. I had to encourage Bug to pet them. He wasn't thrilled.
We went to bed and I know one of them used the litter box because the noise woke me up. Found out that Rosie spent almost all night in BUG's ROOM hanging around him and nibbling on his fingers and toes. *rolls eyes*
Now, of course, Rosie won't come out of his room. I can pick her up and carry her out but she freaks and runs back in. Irony - Gabby slept in there all night too. I haven't seen Rupert since last night, I think he's behind the tv stand. Bug heard rustling behind there.
Of course, all this makes me sad. Stupid me to even hope for instant family, I know better than that. Can't help what the heart wants though. Hopefully, soon, they will get braver and come out.
