Still Chilly Out

...but I'm not complaining. I found my fave sweater this morning (brown scuzzy!) and am comfortable. LOL I hope it stays cool at least until tomorrow night. Hot Halloweens are just so unnatural. LOL

Sharky closes at work tonight so we slept in a few minutes this morning and the boys were ticked off because they had only 50 minutes to get ready instead of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Geeze, they complain about too much time and then complain about not enough. Can't make them happy. I threaten them with homeschooling - that usually gets them to shut up about it. LOL

Had the weirdest thing happen last night. While watching TV, I noticed a very sore spot right underneath the right side of my jaw, about the size of a dime. I didn't remember being hurt or injured there in any way so wasn't sure what was going on. I could feel a small lump. Sometime during the night, I woke up and it was very sore still and the lump had gotten bigger. By the time I woke up for good this morning, the whole side of my face had swollen and the entire area was very sore. Poor Sharky was quite startled.

Well, thank goodness for Google! I remembered that there are glands located in that area so I looked it up - most likely have a blocked salivary gland. Put some warm compresses on it; tried washcloth at first, but it got cold too fast, so used my rice-neck heating roll which really contains heat for a long time. Luckily, the swelling started to go down, and now at noon, it's just back to being a tiny lump that only hurts if I really push on it. There seem to be a couple of causes, but it looks like mine most likely was dry mouth and yes, I do get it while I sleep quite often. I've increased my liquid intake (water) and am staying away from anything sweet (seems like that aggravates it). Hope this doesn't happen again.

We watched the half hour Barack Obama television advertisement last night - it was absolutely wonderful. I told my mom today that I'm finally starting to understand why people of her generation so venerated JFK. When the special was over with I was surprised to find myself in tears. I don't think I have ever been so moved politically in all my life.
