Wednesday Already?
This week is going by fast.
Had to run an errand after I dropped Petunia at school and then stopped by Winn-Dixie in Murray Hill (on Normandy) to pick up some groceries. I picked up some bagged salad and some fruit in the fruit & veggie department and was actually told "Hi!" by a couple of workers there, including a manager. I was very surprised. It's been a long time since someone has been polite to me at that store.
Wore my "Vote Obama 08" button that I got from MoveOn.org and got a lot of compliments on it. Speaking of which, a lady from the Democratic Party stopped by the house to pass out a flier about early voting - she was all smiles from seeing my Obama/Biden bumper sticker.
Had to chase a white & marmalade cat off the porch this afternoon, he was chasing Baby Squirrel. I was not happy about that. He wasn't a hungry cat either, he was quite a fat and healthy one too. Poor Baby Squirrel has got it rough, so tiny and all alone. Haven't seen Boo-Boo Squirrelly or her boyfriend in a while - hope they are OK.
Saw another cat chasing something rodent-like across the street when the garbage men came by today. I am having Bear place fabric dryer sheets in all our access holes right now. I've heard that rodents do not like the smell of them, so until I can get some of that rodent bait (the stuff that dehydrates them so they don't smell when they die) this will just have to do. I need to call the City and find out where to get the stuff - last time I tried to get some at the Community Center, the guy volunteering there freaked out in denial. This is the worst time of year for rodents, it's cold outside and the houses are warm so they go into the crawl spaces underneath. Ick. It's an urban problem and this is an urban neighborhood, we lost suburb status at least 50 years ago.
I remember years ago, in The Willow Grove, a young woman got all freaky to another member when the other mentioned they were having a rat problem in their back yard that backed up to some old woods. The young lady said rats were only attracted to filthy areas and wouldn't listen to reason and facts. Rats/mice are like pigeons, they are attracted to humans and you will find them in the poorest and the wealthiest areas alike. *sigh*
