Happy Halloween and Merry Samhain!

Bear has a Day of the Dead party in Spanish class today (Bug has his party on Monday) so he stayed up late into the night baking little sugar cookies shaped like skulls (I have a tiny Halloween cookie cutter set from Wilson's). We also found 2 liter bottles of Refresco Iberia (Hispanic brand soda) at Publix for 99¢ each - they both got a Sangria and a Guava flavored one to take to the party as well. Their Spanish teacher just adores the boys because they put thought into what they bring, instead of just grabbing the ubiquitous bag of tortilla chips. LOL

I had such a headache when the boys came home from school and the first thing they asked me was "Did you go to the store to buy our stuff?" So, guess what? Yep, had to get dressed and swing by Publix to get their stuff. We were resigned to just buying Fanta soda until we found the other brand in the "not Coke nor Pepsi" section.

Of course, by that time we were running out of time for dinner, so I bought two 2.7 lbs frozen chicken lasagnas by Stouffer's. They were on sale for $5 each, making them cheaper with more food than the regular Stouffer's lasagna ($14.69 for 5 lbs). They were delish too. Had some French bread with butter on the side (no Italian bread at the bakery lol). Nice hearty dinner.

I went to bed early and woke up around 11:00 p.m. I heard someone in the kitchen so I went to investigate. It was Bug, washing dishes. He had worked on his homework all evening, with only a dinner break, and then finished the dishes when the work was completed. I was proud of him for that. He had written a report on Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask of Amontillado, complete with free-hand drawings (on Paint, no less) illustrating it. I took a look at it this morning and was totally impressed.

Meeting C for lunch today so she can give us the tickets. I hope she has an extra Obama/Biden sign for me so I can put it in the front yard - or front porch, considering the signs being stolen around town. (She had to get more signs because, after her's were vandalized, they ended up being stolen. Morons...)

Samhain marks the coming of winter. This is a date that is often recognized as a time where the barriers between different planes of existence are at their thinnest. Pagans generally use this as a time of reflection, in memory of departed loved ones.

Honoring and remembering my
Where's George? friends today...
