Sending a PCX to Poland this morning. (Gotta return Netflix as well...)
Checked the library's website - my 3 Steve Berry holds are still unavailable. Geeze, he's really popular! I have to go back today, seriously lacking in anything to read. I know I need to BCX some books, might do that this weekend.
Last Friday night, we all watched The Omega Man (1971) starring Charlton Heston. In my opinion, this was Heston's best acting of all time. Yes, this movie is a perfect example of 1970s sci-fi cheese, but I knew that in the 1970s and I still love this movie today. It's held up great over the years, and is still as fun & creepy as it was when I first saw it. In fact, I think I like it even more because, as an adult, I view things differently than as a child or a teen, and can appreciate the different nuances of this film better. Warning to purists - this is far removed from Richard Matheson's novelette (I Am Legend) and the first film (Last Man on Earth) so please don't watch this expecting to see a faithful adaptation. BTW, watch out for a very young and beautiful Rosalind Cash!
After the kids went to bed, Sharky and I watched Black Snake Moan (2006) starring Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci, and Justin Timberlake (yes, the singer). OK, don't be afraid of this movie even though from the title and description it sounds like porn. LOL It could have been really sleazy but instead it's a heartwarming tale of two very different people who've been hurt badly by those they love and end up healing each other in the process of getting to know each other. Strangely, there are some good laughs in this film (along the lines of "Oh no he didn't!") and the music is awesome. Jackson is no professional blues singer, but he's authentic and real for the character. In fact, all the characters are played wonderfully and realistically by all the actors. I am really impressed.
