Today is early release, but not much is going on. Petunia's mouth is very sore from the new braces (wires) and is coming down with a cold she obviously from a school chum. She was cranky and tired and weepy most of yesterday afternoon and evening, and is quite hot today, so I'm keeping her home. She was able to eat the Progresso New England Clam Chowder I made last night and I'm making a beef stew from scratch - something else soft for her to eat. Of course, both boys are incensed that they are not sick as well. *sigh*

Had some interesting conversations this morning (already lol) and I'm keeping them for future perusal...

Me too. I went to a local museum's exhibit last year and they had the most magnificent, pink granite lion on display just begging to be touched. I couldn't, of course (didn't want to be thrown out) and they wouldn't even allow photographs. It almost hurt, wanting to touch him so badly. *sigh* I don't know why I felt the need to touch him - the other things on display didn't effect me the same way. Perhaps it's because of my love for Bast? I don't know. I do know that I had never, to my recollection, ever seen him before.

Here's his description: "...where the magnificent Lion of Amenhotep III sits. Carved in a ruddy, richly textured granite around 1390 B.C., the lion was made for one pharaoh and, later, re-inscribed for another, the so-called "boy king," Tutankhamun."

Here's his picture (he's described as ruddy or red granite and the picture doesn't show it, but he was really pink - seriously):

I'm always happy with outdoor ruins that one can touch. I do come away with feelings sometimes, I should really start writing stuff like that down... Oh well, thanks for letting me ramble.

I don't know about "funny"...
The first time I met Sharky's dad and his common-law wife (now they're legit), Sharky announced that we were getting married. The FIRST thing out of their mouths: "Is she pregnant?" (The answer was no, btw. lol) Then they took us to meet their (former) cult leader with his inbred and deformed family, now most thankfully deceased.

At least my (future) MIL only asked the preggo question on the phone, not to my face. To my face, she asked if I was Jewish because her anti-semitic husband said that my maiden name was a "Jew name". I told them that technically my father was, but the name wasn't Jewish, it was Scottish.

Yes, it's been a long, hard road and not all of it has been fun.
