Sharky and I just finished watching A Tale of Two Sisters aka Janghwa, Hongryeon (2003), a Korean ghost film. I am totally blown away. The movie was visually stunning - absolutely beautiful; from the countryside to the contrasting colors. The actresses and actors are totally unknown to me, but I was impressed by their talent, sincerity & skill. I am puzzled at why it is rated R (some violence and disturbing images), compared to some horror/thriller movies I have seen, this is quite tame. If you watch this film and halfway through realize you are confused by the convoluted storyline, don't worry - hang in there. Think of this movie as a tangled skein of yarn, the more you unravel the more you understand. I am awed by this film. It's melancholy and satisfying, all at the same time. I cannot remember a ghost/horror/thriller movie making me feel like this before...
