We had a marvelous time last night at the "Big Cats for Kids" Auction Preview at the Moroccan Shriners Temple over on St. John's Bluff. Suggested donation of $1 a person made it more affordable for us than the actual auction, being held tonight, which is $50 a head. (No, I'm not cheap, I'm just poor - I really wish we could have afforded to go to the auction. LOL)

There were so many cats! There was a total of 53 cats, but some were not there, having already been purchased and put on permanent display. There were close to 45 (give or take a few kitties) and we got to see so many that we missed.

We were glad we got there when it first opened - we left at 7:00 p.m. and it was starting to get pretty crowded! I was able to take a lot of pictures (check out my Flickr album) and most turned out ok. The cats were close together and we had to be careful not to touch them (since some of the artists were still repairing a couple) so it was hard to get many decent shots. I'm not the best photographer, but I am enthusiastic. LOL

Speaking of which, I joined a local Jacksonville Flickr group and man, what a blow to my ego. I know I'm just an amateur and I just take pictures for my own amusement, but seeing what these other people are doing with their fancy cameras just blows me away. Oh well, I guess I'll just add photography to my long, long list of mediocre talents. *wink*
