Bear helped me make a lot of potato salad that turned out delicious and everyone at the party loved it.
Slow as always, we got there about 45 minutes late, but we weren't too worried since Will said there were going to be a lot of people. Unfortunately, we were the first to arrive. Others did eventually trickle in, but that was after his wife got on the phone and called people. Oh well, their loss. Will had grilled beef & baby back ribs and chicken. Ribs were good, but the chicken was totally awesome. I love grilled chicken but rarely eat it because it's usually pretty dry. This was grilled to perfection and was juicy and moist from the bone to right under the skin. I don't know how he did it - he was surprised as well. LOL
I had one beer when we got there (a Dos XX) and a couple sips of Will's homebrew (actually quite tasty), but then stopped. I was the designated driver and frankly, being a diabetic, I shouldn't drink much anyhow. LOL
The kids behaved quite well, they read their books and then played video games with Will's little son, and watched HBO (nothing raunchy). I just sat in a chair in the shade and watched the trees sway over the river. Lots of seagulls, herons and egrets flying around - no hawks though - and fish jumping in the water. Quite lovely.
We stayed four hours and got back home at almost 2100. With the summer sun being out late, you forget how late it can get!
