Running Water
Today, I am grateful for running water. I saw a report on CBS Sunday Morning that told of a Navajo Reservation (AZ/NM) that has never had running water, mainly due to politics (no voting power when water allocation was given out), poisoned wells (uranium mines), and other reasons. A woman drives a water truck to each house once a month to make sure they have water.
I've lived without water a few times (storms, etc.) and even for a few days, it was nightmarish. To know that there are American citizens that do not have the basic right of water is infuriating. They are raising money to build a deep well for the residents (to go past the contamination), with hopes on gravity cisterns at each home in a few years.
Think of all the money the USA government wastes on frivolous things, and yet we cannot spend less than $1 mil on a well for our own people? Sick.
