Car talk
Sharky came home from work yesterday and drove a few blocks down to check out a co-worker's car for sale. He left the truck there and drove the car home so I could check it out. Affordable (not like we have any money right now) with good tires, brakes, and cold a/c. Early 90s Nissan means great gas mileage too - 29mpg supposedly, I checked on Edmunds and they are still getting great mileage in their "old age". Easy for Sharky to work on and most likely would clean up nice. But, as I said, no money right now so we'll have to wait. Sharky even suggested that maybe the guy would come down on the price as well. Never know. He called his brother to see what the status was down south but BIL was sick all day yesterday and was unable to do anything. Hopefully we'll hear something this evening. The car in question down there had broken a/c and is not as good on gas as this one, which is a big problem here in FL. BIL did promise to see if there was anything else on their lot that might help us out. I dunno, I've been Googling the local car and the more I read about the great reliability, etc., the more I really like it. I shouldn't get my hopes up though.
My super cool totally awesome neighbor is letting us borrow his extra car tomorrow so we can shuttle Mr. W to the airport. We're also going to swing by the grocery store and pick up any odds and ends we need. It will be fun and I will put gas in his car to make up for what we used. Wish I had the moolah to take the kids out to eat - even to a cheap fast food place, but I don't so I'm not even going to bring that up to give them something else to grouse about.
Both boys have really acquired a nasty attitude about this whole situation and I don't know what to do to fix it. They were watching something on TV last night and kept harping on about "stupid rich people" in a very jealous tone of voice. Tried to explain (again) that money does not guarantee happiness but they just don't get it. Maybe as they get older, they will?
