A good birthday was had last night

Bug stayed home yesterday because he was pretty sick (sinus sick that is) (and woke up sick this morning too). He spent most of yesterday sleeping on the couch and insisting on being "snuggled". Yeah, you know a 14 yo boy is feeling sick when he wants to be held by his Mommy. LOL

Early in the morning, we ran to Publix and picked up food for this evening to fix Bear's requested birthday meal - a homemade chicken tender sub (on Cuban bread, with warmed-up chicken tenders, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and Havarti cheese) and the biggest tray of Stouffer's mac & cheese made. LOL His birthday "cake" was Blue Bell's mint chocolate chip ice cream (tasty but obnoxiously green) and green frosted cupcakes.

He loved his dinner, "cake" and presents: y'all most likely know the rules: the older they get, the fewer presents they want, but the more expensive they are. *rolls eyes* A while back (when I had a couple of extra bucks), I shopped around and got an excellent deal on Buy.com (highly recommend!) on a Nintendo DS Lite and a plastic/metal carrying case with accessories. He was THRILLED to pieces over it because he had resigned himself to getting a used one - or none at all. (I like it when they ask for something, and get it, and they are STILL surprised. LOL)

Two sets of grandparents sent birthday cards. We were hoping the other two sets would either send an e-card or at least call him to wish him a Happy Birthday, but I guess they forgot. I always feel horrible about that, but it's been this way for years. *sigh* (Hey, one just called a few moments ago. That's good... Maybe the other will call tomorrow?)

Going to get the boys' "school" portraits taken today. (As usual, they missed the"official" school ones and, frankly, I didn't have the money - $25 bucks a kid for the cheapest package was more than I could afford.) We're going to one of the department store places to get them done - they are just as professional and cheaper than the school ones anyway.

We are seriously considering getting a whole family portrait done while we are there. We only have two professional ones - one of me, Sharky and Bear (I'm pregnant with Bug in that picture) and one of me, Sharky and both boys while they were toddlers. Petunia is EIGHT years old and we don't have a professional picture of all of us, although we do have a couple of cute ones of just the three kids. Both Sharky and I discussed it and we are both afraid of something happening to one of us and not having at least one nice portrait...
