For the first time this spring, my Purple Finches brought their babies to my feeder. Can't miss it when it happens, all the chirping and crying "feed me!" at the tops of their little lungs. It's so cute, the babies puff themselves up larger than the parents to be fed. The babies hang onto my hanging plants while the parents ferry the seeds back and forth.

I also saw my first baby squirrel of the season, she's so tiny, it's almost hard to imagine she was ready to leave the nest. She was very brave though, and sat next to the water dish, picking out the (now softened) fallen seeds from the feeder above.

I always keep food and fresh water out so everyone has a place to rest and have a "verbal" agreement with the stray cats that they can eat all the rats & mice they want as long as they leave my squirrels & birds alone. I wish I could get pictures, but my feeder and bird water dish are on my porch and it's too dark to take a pic through the storm door...

Mom mailed me a Mother's Day card and I don't have time to mail one to her. We just decided yesterday that we'd postpone everything until June and I had planned on giving her the card on Sunday. Drat.
