Bug is going to the 8th grade prom on Saturday. Surprise, surprise, surprise. I had NO idea. He's been "working" on it all week. He finally told me because (1) he came home with a suit and (2) he needs money for tickets. He told me his plan was to go with his (male) friend Dylan as a "couple" to save money on tickets ($15 for 1, $20 for 2). (Dylan's mom is the one that gave him Dylan's old suit, great shape and fits perfectly.) He said that he and Dylan had a "long and serious" talk about them attending together. ROFLOL (No, I didn't laugh at him, I thought it was cute.)

When I started questioning Bug about things, he broke down and told me that he wanted to ask his friend Liz to go. (She's the girl we gave a ride to after the science fair and lives just around the corner.) (But, horror of horrors, he said he first thought he'd be mean and ask her but not take her. I looked at him and told him that I had been stood up as a girl and it's a horrid thing to do to someone. He promised he would never go through with something like that. Oh well, at least he was honest and told me.) I told him that I would take him to an ATM in the morning and get him the money but not to buy the tickets until he asks her and she accepts (duh...). Heck, I'm still in shock that he "likes her." He says she's not a "girlfriend" though and he hasn't kissed her. I'm surprised, I thought Bear (20 months older) would be the first to go to a dance, etc. (School day dances do not count, those are just school parties with music and food. LOL)

Wow, Saturday is going to be real busy. Besides the Prom, Bug has a sports award dinner to attend before hand (won't conflict, both are held at the school). Petunia has a special performance with her chorus downtown around the same times, so we all, as a family, are going to have to split up so everyone can do everything. Bear is the only one not doing anything.
