We all watched The Cave (2005) last night. It was not a scary flick or a thrilling one, it wasn't that good and it wasn't all that bad. It was a great movie to yell at the people on the screen, laugh at the serious parts and crack jokes about. If you watch this, you DO have to pay attention at the end - it's got a neat twist to it that made me smile. LOL

Last Thursday night, we watched Ratatouille (2007) - we did not rent it, it was a Yule gift to my 13yo son from his Gdmother. I am so glad we own this.

Now, this movie might be rated G but it is not for small children. My daughter is 7 and is rather sensitive about animals and death, but she was able to handle it. If she were younger, I am not sure, so I caution parents - you might want to pre-screen this before letting young and/or children who upset easy watch it. Why? Well to avoid any spoilers, let me just remind you that it is about RATS and one cannot have a story about rats without mentioning things like poison and traps, etc. There is violence with people attempting to kill said characters and some (not too brief) views of dead rats. There are also some other "iffy" scenes not relating to that subject, but most are very brief and may not be noticed.

Well, all that said, I hope I didn't scare you away from this movie. LOL This is a great movie for older kids and adults. I believe adults will understand and appreciate the comedy most of all - especially if they've ever worked in a restaurant.

The animation is superb. Yes, the faces are comedic and animated, but the detail stands out like never before. The restaurant kitchen feels like a real one, with bits and pieces expected (and not expected) in all views - from the floor up and the ceiling down.

The storyline is magical and yet "realistic". I cannot explain that in any more detail with out spoiling it...

I heartily recommend this and plan on watching it over and over.
