Had a great day yesterday.

Lunch with Mom and sDad at Steak & Shake was great. We all had the same thing (double steakburger w/cheese platter w/cheese fries, chili and milkshake) except for Petunia who had chicken fingers (always has to be different lol). As usual, the food and service was great. (Never disappointed!) I swear, they have the best fast food or restaurant chili anywhere. The bill was kinda high (there were 7 of us) but Mom had a coupon so almost $15 was knocked off the final total.

I gave Mom her birthday present (belated, but appreciated). It was a hand painted Catholic saint medal with St. Patrick on one side and St. Brigid on the other - both are Patron/Matron saints of Ireland. She really loved it.

I cut the boys' hair in the morning. Bear just got a regular "buzz cut" but Bug got his Mohawk like I promised. First time I ever did a Mohawk too, it turned out quite well. I used some Garnier mousse and we were able to make it stand up. Mom and sDad got a huge kick out of it.

Had a quiet afternoon and a light dinner of salad. We were all still rather stuffed from lunch. LOL

Neighbourhood fireworks started early and Sharky told me that the corner to the west of us was totally blocked by a block party. Luckily, we had a good rain earlier in the day so the chance of something catching on fire was slim. At 2145, Sharky and the kids stood outside and lit sparklers, while watching the fireworks from downtown. They were a bit lower this year (probably due to clouds) but they were still able to see the big ones clearly.

I am totally AMAZED that the 'hood fireworks stopped at around 2330 and there were NO gunshots at midnight. Woohoo! They must have ran out of ammo after shooting earlier this week. *rolls eyes*

OH, and a little after 2300, the phone rang. It was a teenage girl asking for Bear! I nicely told her he was already in bed and that we didn't allow phone calls after 2100. She was very apologetic and I told her to call him in the morning. It's so funny, I ask him if the girls like him and he always tells me No, because he's a geek (likes gaming, etc.). Hehehe Girls like geeks too, you know. I don't think he believes me...

You know, that is so freaky. Twenty-five years ago, I was the little girl on the phone. It almost seems like yesterday at times...
