Sharky wanted to sleep last night without Toby on his head, so I made sure Toby had a bed outside our room. Of course, he slept in the bathroom all night and was incredibly ticked off at me this morning and won't even look at me. Poor guy. Can't blame Sharky though, he needs his sleep.
I received a "threatening" email this morning from Bug's science project partner's mother. Mrs. D said that if "I" didn't do this and if "I" didn't do that, she was going to report me to the boys' science teacher. Gee, last time I looked, Bug was in the 6th grade, not ME! I have no problem with guiding my child and offering assistance, but I refuse to do the whole project! I'm not getting graded, my child is. I've had problems with parents like this from kindergarten on - parents who have to do all the work for their kid, their kid gets excellent grades, and just skates on without doing any of the hard work. What's the use then? I spoke to Bug and wrote her a quick email back assuring her that the work Bug is to do will be finished this evening and sent home with her son tomorrow for the final assembly of the project.
From my calendar:
- Navaratri begins— Hindu — A nine-night harvest festival that exalts the motherhood aspect of God and the triumph of good over evil. It celebrates goddess Durga, who destroyed the demon Ahishasura. The festival is considered an auspicious time to start new ventures.
- Ramadan begins — Islam — The month in which the Holy Quran was revealed. It is a time to honor self-discipline and the commands of God by fasting: Food, drink and sexual activity are prohibited between dawn and dusk each day.
So many religious holidays start at this time of year, one forgets the similarities involved with the whole human experience.
Petunia was all better this morning, so she went to school. You've never seen a happier child - you'd think that it was her birthday or something! LOL I hope she keeps this love for school. I remember the boys were the same way, until around 3rd or 4th grade - then it all went downhill...
