Had an ok night's sleep last night but had a real hard time waking up. I miss my morning coffee. Didn't make it yesterday or today because I can't drink an entire pot and I hate to waste it all or worse, I would drink more than my mug-full and end up spazzing all over the place.
Sharky comes home tonight and I'm so looking forward to it. LOL I realized last night, before I fell asleep that I feel so powerless when he's gone, like adrift in a rowboat without any oars. No, I'm not implying that he's my oars or motor or anything else like that, it's just like he gives me purpose. Which doesn't go at all with the rowboat metaphor, so I really don't know where I'm going with all this. Hmm, I knew there was a reason why I didn't get up last night and write this all down. It doesn't make a lick of sense. ROFL
Forgot to mention, last night at the grocery store, Bug told me he saw his friend Brian - the kid he walks home a couple blocks with. I turned around but didn't see him. Near the end of our shopping, I noticed a woman staring at me. I tried to ignore her, but all of a sudden, she walks up and asks if I was Bug's mother and introduced herself as Mrs. M, Brian's mom. Turns out, she lives on our street, just 5 blocks down.
The woman is completely clueless. She said she'd love to have Bug come over sometime and ride bikes, and I said he's welcome to go visit, but we don't do the bike thing because of how dangerous the traffic is on our streets in Riverside. She gave me one of those frog blinks: low, slow and blank. I told her that I was happy about Bug having a friend with him to walk the 2 blocks to our street because I wasn't happy with the placement of the bus stop and she had NO idea what I was talking about. She made some kind of joke about girls and boys. I decided the grocery store was not the place to educate her about the drunks on the corner, and the drug dealers on bikes, etc. I wonder if she was just playing stupid or if she really had no idea. Hmm...
I forgot to "document" some good news. It's been a long time since I've seen the formerly pregnant crack ho hanging around our area. *knock on wood* (Last time I said that, she showed back up the next day.) There have been some police busts on drug houses nearby and from what I've heard thru the grapevine, they are really cracking down. Pun intended. LOL
The Park & King "shopping district" here in Riverside had their grand "opening" a couple of weeks ago. It really is looking great and I'm even prouder of my little neighbourhood. It's been landscaped with brick crosswalks, fancy streetlights (with flags) and all sorts of other neat stuff.
At the corner of College & King, the owners have been rehabbing a really ugly couple of stores, unboarding the windows and exposing the upper window lights, etc., returning them to their former glory. I'm very excited about that - it's about time someone appreciated what lay under all that T11. My dream, since we moved here, has been to own one of those little store fronts and have my own shop. I would have to hit the lottery to accomplish that dream, but it's still fun to have.
