Down With Rampant Consumerism!

Yes, our annual Black Friday Protest is now in session. LOL Sharky's at work - he said it was a little hectic this morning and its quiet now, but he believes it will pick back up in the afternoon. No big part sales, but a lot of people bring their car in and get dealer rental cars to use to go shopping. Tacky, I think.

Had a good day yesterday - the drive there was fine, back was tiring because it was dark and took 1 1/2 hours each way approximately. My driving foot is cramped still. I collapsed not too long after we got home and, thanks to a full stomach, had nightmares all night long. EEP!

Petunia was her usual dog magnet there and made best friends with my Uncle's Doberman, Diamond, and my Aunt's Maltese, Tucker. In fact, when we left, Tucker started barking and howling like crazy - I think he wanted to come with us.

This was our first "dry" Thanksgiving with the family and we still had fun. ROFLOL Sharky was totally shocked and amazed that the usual drinkers were teetotalers yesterday.

Sadly, there are no more horses, llamas or livestock at my uncle's anymore. The ducks were eaten by a gator but the peacocks are too smart to go near the lake where the gators live. (Last one sited was about 6 foot long!) The peacocks are still noisy, stupid birds, but absolutely incredibly gorgeous to look at. They also have 4 stray feral cats they feed - so feral that they are terrified of anyone and everyone. Very sad when we saw that one looked like our beloved Stella (RIP) but with a tail. One cat had a flesh wound on its head, Uncle K was pretty sure it came from one of the peacocks. *rolls eyes* There was constant crowing from the roosters down the street (raised for cock fighting) - after a while, it just got funnier instead of more annoying.

The food was fabulous. Bear even helped Cousin J in the kitchen with the ham, which was delectable. The turkey was awesome and so were the mashed taters, gravy and cranberry sauce (made by Bear - even Uncle K liked that and he's a can man). The stuffing was ok - I think it had apples in it and I don't like sweet & savory mixed like that. Mom's sweet potato casserole was great - I just had a couple of bites of the brown sugar top. LOL Bug's pies weren't pretty but wow, they were absolutely fabulous tasting - sweet tart with almost a crunchy candy topping, not too sweet, just right. I'm so glad we brought the 4 12 packs of soda, I was right, my kids did drink like fishies.

Mom loved the food bags we gave her. Spoke to her this morning and they both were totally floored by what we were able to get. Should help them out greatly for a while. Like Sharky said, we can never do too much for them since they've done so much for us...
