Sunday's Ritual
The ritual went great. I had almost everything memorized and then *poof* forgot it all. LOL Thank goodness I had the script. *wink*
The altar cloth was a spur of the moment purchase from Wallyworld for $5. I couldn't resist and went better than the lavender gauze I was going to use.
It was funny how the altar came together from me cobbling and scrounging pieces from about the house. Things I needed just "appeared" and I was informed when I had made a wrong choice. LOL
Originally, I had a harvest fairy that I was going to use on the altar - my Mom bought her for me at a Cracker Barrel (she's really supposed to be an angel). She has oak leaves for wings and holds partially shucked corn with pumpkins at her feet. I was holding her in my hands and I looked over at my cat, Malcolm, who gave me one of those looks, so I put her back on the mantle and reached behind my wheelbarrow and grabbed this little black cat - and received a look of approval from Malcolm. LOL
There are many, many feral cats at the park we gather at, due to a small trailer park nearby, the military base across the street, and the fact that people dump cats. They always watch us, but from a distance.
On Sunday morning, we were the first to arrive and as two of my friends (and quarter callers) showed up, this little gal cat came trotting out of the ladies room nearby. She had on an ancient flea collar (and I mean it was old...) and was in heat. She glommed all over my daughter first, and then I asked her to stay with us.
This little cat greeted everyone, was very (VERY) patient with some of the other kids who aren't as gentle as Petunia and walked in and out of the entire ritual, brushing up against legs.
When it was over and we were packing up, she quietly walked away...
