Da Middle of da Week...

Petunia had one of her "I'm sick and can't go to school because I hate PE" meltdowns this morning. I stayed positive and tricked her into getting dressed and then out the door. By the time we were a block away, she was happy and excited about going. *sigh* I sure hope she grows out of this soon.

Bear and I went to Publix last night, after Sharky got home with the car. The store was packed! Luckily, we had a list and stuck to it, which made it easier. Got almost everything we needed. Got home late, so we had Red Baron pizza (b1g1f deal) for dinner. Not too shabby, but honestly, Publix's store brand pizza is just as good and usually priced lower. LOL Breyer's Ice Cream was a b1g1f deal as well, so we had the Cookie Dough flavor. Mmm, Breyer's is so good. Too bad they downsized their ice cream. Hmmph.

I've been reading this history book (The Roots of Witchcraft by Michael Harrison) for the past couple of days. The author is brilliant but is a lot like me, he goes off on tangents that can be confusing (and somewhat annoying). I've had to reread quite a few passages to make sure I understood what was going on. The book was written/published in England in 1973 and wow, is that ever obvious. Many words he uses are now obsolete or out of use and he writes as if WWII was a very recent memory. (OK, got to give him that one, it most likely was for many people who lived through it. But I have to remind myself of that when he goes off into a tangent of comparisons.) I'm almost finished with the book and I'm glad that I have some set aside in the same or similar genre to read next.

The GTKYFG question of the day was about how/when did you learn to type:

Growing up we always had a typewriter around the house. First one (that I remember typing on) was most likely an electric IBM, early 1970s, that belonged to my dad.

In middle school, Grandma bought me a manual Royal typewriter w/case from a thrift store for $10. (Man, that was a lot of money back then too, I had to really beg for it. LOL) I wanted it soooo badly because it looked a lot like JohnBoy Walton's typewriter. ROFLOL I used to be able to really bang away at it fast. Which, if you might guess, really screwed me up when I took typing in high school because those "new-fangled" Selectrics didn't need a heavy hand. EEEP!

I still have my old Royal (and it works!), but the ribbon is dry now. I used to be able to buy "modern" ribbon and re-spool it to use (messy but it worked) but I cannot find ribbon of any kind any more. *sniff*
