Oh my goodness, it's 37°F out right now! Goodie goodie goodie! Sharky is moaning and groaning because it's "too cold" and he didn't want to get out of bed. I feel like I'm just rarin' to go! hehehe
Bug cannot go one morning without starting a fight with everyone in this house. Everything was going great and he just decides to start shit. *Gggrrrrrrr* He can't find his ID tag, he can't find his pencils, yada yada yada, and it's all ________'s fault. I just couldn't wait for him to leave the house this morning. Yesterday, he came home in a good mood (mainly so he could watch LOST) and it was nice having no fighting for once. *sigh*
Sharky's taking the car today, so that means I get to walk Petunia to and from school in this weather. FUN! Yippee! I just hope the cold doesn't burn my lungs like last year. (I'd start coughing to the point of almost throwing up.)
Went to Chamblin's BookMine yesterday morning to drop off more books and buy Bug the book he needs for school (Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah). They are so great for that - they have an arrangement for the teachers to order books from them and there are always plenty. They keep the school books seperate and all you have to do is ask at the front desk. I love that arrangement. *wink*
I poked around a while and with the store credit I've earned from my old books, picked out a book for myself, Doreen Valiente's Natural Magic. It's a 1975 Book Club edition, but it's in very good shape for a 30 year old book and still has it's dust jacket. I think I got a pretty good deal on it, I paid $6.00 and have found the exact same book on the 'net for $5.95 - and a new soft cover is around $11 or $12 dollars - I always prefer hardback to soft, especially on a book that I want to last. I've started reading it and really enjoy it so far - it's also very, very familiar so I probably have read it (or even owned it) sometime in the long ago past. That makes me kind of sad, remembering how my ex-husband destroyed my old books because he was drunk and they were "evil." *sigh*
I'm going back to the store tomorrow to purchase a book I saw. I've decided that I cannot live without it and consider it part of my "birthday present". LOL I don't want to talk about it right now because I don't want to "jinx" it. LOL! I'm very excited about adding this particular book to my collection. I'm very, very excited. *squeals*
Speaking of book collections, like every other collection I have, I'm honing it down to bare minimum and only buying things that are very special to own. I'm thinking about making a webpage with the covers and descriptions of the magic books I own for reference purposes. Kind of like the BookCrossing list, but obviously these will not be given away.
